TALES FROM THE JEWELRY BOX
When collectors begin a conversation about a passionate topic (jewelry), they say something that will be remembered forever and maybe even inspire others. Have you ever experienced this?
I conversed with a woman in an early morning line many years ago at a local jewelry show. When asked what she was hunting for that day, she replied, "Hearts. I collect hearts." She rocked back on her feet, smiled, and then showed me her charm bracelet, dangling hearts jingling their love-themed tune. A wider smile spread across her face, and she shared, "I just love hearts."
To this day, I admire her singular focus because my own (collectible) interests are all over the place. Whenever I see a beautiful heart or create heart-shaped jewelry to add to the Love Collection, I always think of her. I never got her name, and it haunts me that I had such a brief, meaningful moment without the most uncomplicated exchange: our names. I want to ask her how her collection evolved, which heart is her favorite, and why. And I wonder if she ever felt like her collection was complete.
What do hearts represent to you?
Would you wear a heart necklace or charm to affirm self-love?
Do you collect anything heart-shaped?
In Feng Shui, hearts are physical reminders and energetic placeholders that attract love or assist with harmony in all relationships. (Love makes everything just a little bit better.) Coincidentally, two friends with whom I studied Feng Shui gifted me with hearts. I place them together in the area of my home that supports synchronicity in all endeavors. Whenever I touch them, I feel the love and support from those women, and it inspires me to spread more love in the world.
Please let me know if you collect hearts in jewelry or beautiful objects for your home and if you want me to consider you when I create heart-shaped jewelry or find a unique object. Also, if you have a heart-shaped collection and would like to share it with me, reach out; I'd love to hear your stories.
